He is set to tap up A-list pals to assist those near his holiday home. This week, George, 60, was trapped in floods and mudslides that left 60 people homeless. Trees, cars, rocks, and debris swept past Villa Oleandra, where he’s staying with his wife Amal and youngsters in Laglio on Italy’s Lake Como. Officials estimate the ultimate repair bill is going to be up to £50million.

The Hollywood actor has been helping. Mayor Roberto Pozzi said yesterday: “Through his contacts, George has promised to assist us to reconstruct and rebuild. “His help shows just what proportion he has our village in his heart. “You could see he was deeply touched and he wanted to understand how he could help.”
