Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis played an instrument in his team’s title-winning run one year ago. Unfortunately, he regressed badly within the follow-up campaign. a part of it stemmed from handling injuries, and therefore the other part came from his horrendous early-season conditioning. it had been so bad, in fact, that even California Warriors star Draymond Green called him out for it.
So was Davis’ one stellar year an aberration, or will he return thereto form next season once he’s fully healthy? This week, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar weighed in on Davis. In an interview with Sanjesh Singh of USA Today, Abdul-Jabbar gave his assessment of Davis: “I have a favorite big man, and he happens to play in L.A. and wear number 3, Anthony Davis.
“I think he’s the foremost talented. Defensively within the paint, he’s awesome. Offensively within the paint, he’s awesome, then he can leave on the perimeter and be a drag. He can hit the three consistently or the mid-and long-range jumper. So, I might need to accompany him.”
Next season is going to be an enormous one. Davis has readily admitted this year was a disaster and has already concocted an enormous decision to save the Lakers from the fate that befell them in 2020-21. Whether it’ll ultimately achieve success or not remains to be seen.
