Bangladesh is firm in its resolve to fight and win the war against Covid-19, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said. “We are fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic for quite one year now. we’ve lost many close ones during this fight. But we’ve to achieve victory during this fight, and that we will win,” she said on Tuesday while extending her greetings to the people of the country on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, which the country will celebrate on Wednesday. The prime minister again urged everyone to strictly follow all Covid-safety protocols, like wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, while celebrating Eid, UNB reported.
In a video message broadcast on Bangladesh TV and other media outlets on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Hasina urged all to figure for the welfare of the country and its people, following the spirit of sacrifice. She extended Eid greetings to all or any citizens of Bangladesh reception and abroad and prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed souls who lost their lives to Covid. President Md Abdul Hamid has also greeted the state also because of the Muslims across the planet on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. during a message issued on Tuesday, the president said the spirit of sacrifice of Eid-ul-Azha may be a unique example of showing respect and like to the Almighty.
“Azha means Qurbani (sacrifice),” he said, adding that sacrifice instils the spirit of self-sacrifice into all and also teaches them the spirit of sharing happiness and sorrow with relatives and neighbours. The president said this year Eid-ul-Azha was being celebrated at a time when the planet community is distraughtly witnessing a catastrophe caused by the coronavirus pandemic, as many of us are in hardship at different parts of the planet, including Bangladesh. “Due to coronavirus, the life and livelihood of the people of the country face a difficult challenge today,” he said. He urged the people of the country to face the people suffering from the pandemic by realizing the meaning of sacrifice and being inspired by the spirit of restraint and sacrifice.
The president also called upon the citizens to sacrifice their animals in government-designated places. He hoped that everybody would attempt to prevent environmental pollution by removing the waste of sacrificial animals after Qurbani. He advised all to watch Eid-ul-Azha with utmost caution by adhering to proper hygiene rules and maintaining social distancing.
